DA meme

I'm not big with memes, I'll admit; but I read this one over at *kampfkohlrabi and *constantine2530's journals and I liked it! So here it goes:

Why did you join this site?
Some artists I liked were already here, and I wanted to follow their work. I also wanted to have all my actual art (not the silly fan collages etc.) in one place and this one seemed nice :aww:

What does your username have to do with you? Is it a combination of your favorite things, or a character of yours?
It's actually from when I first started to use the interwebz. I love the original Star Wars trilogy and back then I was pretty into it, so I chose a username that would reflect that and ended up combining my own name, Lola, with one of my favorite characters, Leia. Ta-daa!

What is your current icon of?
It's Harry Potter's Sybill Trelawney, from this drawing. I just thought she looked so crazy with the big eyes. My eyes actually look like peas behind my glasses, but I guess I like the whole glasses thing.

How many watchers do you have and how many people are you currently watching?
According to my statistics, I have 2,645 watchers (holy F*$&K! That many?!) and I watch 92 people.

Do you have more than one account?
Nope, just this one.

Name 3 of your favorite artists on DA.
*makani, because her anatomy is superb, her style is flowing and dynamic, her coloring is beautiful and she is terribly funny.
'loish, because her use of colors blows my mind every single time, and her coloring technique is too good to put into words.
*B1nd1, because she is able to create the most amazing atmospheres in her drawings. Every drawing of hers is like seeing a dream you forgot a long time ago.

What deviant do you admire because of their personality?
There are quite a few! Okay, I'll just post a few off the top of my head: =Liajedi (incredibly sweet), *kampfkohlrabi (always so nice and fun), *hannah-dora (deep and very smart) and ~gerre (wonderfully creative) :aww:

How many people on here do you actually know in reality? Post their avatars.
I know a couple but they are not active so there's no need to post their icons, really.

Do you comment, fave, or both?
I mostly fave and run. I only comment when a) I love the piece so much I can't stay quiet, or b) I feel there's something I can contribute. If 200 people have already said "awesome" or "omg this is soo kewl!" then I don't feel the need to be the 201st person to say it again.

What do you typically post on deviantart?
Drawings (usually digital but sometimes traditional) and some photography. I haven't made a manip in ages though...

Do you participate in clubs or contests here on DA?
Nope.

What is your most popular deviation?
Ugh... apparently, it's Twilight: Edward's Test. It's no good but it has an insane number of favorites.

What's your favorite submission in your favorites gallery?
I don't think I could ever pick just one. There are way too many. But I can tell you that my top ten would probably be found in this folder of my favorites.

What are the things you wish you could draw better?
LOL!! EVERYTHING! D'UH!

Are you a subscriber?
Yes indeed.

How many hours a day do you spend on DA?
I don't usually spend "hours" here. I check it once a day to see my watchlist, messages etc, and I spend a bit more when I want to submit something. But I don't think it can be measured in hours (not unless my conexion is particularly slow).

Are you a fast, slow, or medium typer?
I'd say... medium.

What is the most annoying thing people ask you?
Nothing anyone has ever asked me has annoyed me yet.

What is the most annoying comment you get?
Hmmm... There are three types of comments that annoy the hell out of me: 1) Plain mean and troll-ish comments (usually about my Twilight stuff), 2) comments that focus on inane details (wedding ring missing, wrong shoe color etc.) and 3) comments that say something that has been clearly addressed in the artist's comments of a deviation (sometimes even in bold).

What inspires you?
Sometimes everything and sometimes nothing.

Do you use any traditional media?
I try! Pencils mostly, and I'm trying to learn how to use watercolors but I'm not very good.

Do you associate people online with their icons?
I totally do!!!

Have you ever suggested a Daily Deviation?
Nope!

Everyone has considered leaving DA once or twice. Have you? Why?
I don't think I've ever considered it.

He he he! :giggle: That was fun!

Devious Journal Entry

Hmm... I think my brother cracked one of my ribs by hugging me! lol

Sounds ridiculous but he's pretty strong and I'm pretty big so sometimes he'll hug me super tight and I'll try to break off, it's kind of like a silly game to see who gives first, and today I don't know what happened but I felt something crack and now depending on how I hold my left arm it hurts. What a stupid way to crack a rib :giggle:

So I have a ton of HP drawings just gathering dust in my computer but I've decided to do some original stuff first, just to have fun with it and practice. The HP drawings are fun, don't get me wrong, but most of them require backgrounds and lots of shadowing and I guess the prospect of finishing them all is a bit overwhelming right now.

I also have a few pencil drawings that are waiting to be watercolored, but I'm such a noob when it comes to watercolors I feel like I might ruin the drawings if I try. Oh well...

I want to build myself a portfolio and I'm thinking the best thing to do is to try different things and traditional drawings and stuff like that. Does anyone have any advice about portfolios? My objective is to do illustrations for books, or magazines, or graphic design companies etc.

By the way, I hope you all had great holidays! Mine was amazing (but hot as hell!) :aww:
Take care everyone!

Strange laziness

So right now I have three Harry Potter book illustration (one from CoS, one from OotP and one from DH) and for some reason I can't bring myself to finish them! It's like, when I'm done with the lineart I sort of get tired of them, you know? But I'm really happy with how they are turning out so I guess I'll just have to force myself to finish them.
I also have another Closet drawing half done now that I think about it... Oh well...

I should've worked on them this week but it's been mad with all the new photos of the Deathly Hallows set!! They just kept coming and I had to keep uploading them, it was mad! It looks like the flow stopped now though.
I personally think they look pretty good, although I wish Emma Watson didn't look like a freaking Channel Ad on that little red number she was wearing. But Rupert looks amaaaazing *drools* and Dan doesn't look half bad either!

I finally finished my exams and as anyone could've predicted, I lost ALL my inspiration in one day. So I've been doing nothing lately, just trying to draw and not managing it. And that's when I decided to take stuff that I had already drawn and color it.

Which leads me to my little HP project. I thought about this months and months ago but I was too lazy to start. I want to make a drawing for every HP chapter of every HP book. It's going to take a loooong time but it's a fun thing to have going on and since I'm not in any hurry I don't feel overwhelmed by it at all. I think the only way to make sure I do them all is to make them in order (because otherwise I know I'll end up giving up) so my next one is "The Vanishing Glass". I already have an idea for it and I've sketched a few things.

So this HP thing has given me a bit of a boost inspiration-wise, but I'm not totally there yet. I think I'm going to start re-working some of my old drawings, correcting mistakes and cleaning them up a bit. It worked on Sleekeazy's Hair Potion and Act Their Age and I think it will help get my muse started somehow.

So that's about it! The most boring journal entry ever lol!
I hope you're all doing fine

Spam/Phishing Warning

SO I guess not everyone is yet aware of the spam/phishing thing going on here on DeviantArt, because a lot of people are still getting spammed and are still clicking the links.

Anyway, guys if you see any comment on your deviations or your profile page telling you to click a link, DON'T DO IT. If you do it, you will be taken to a fake DeviantArt login page: DON'T FILL IN YOUR INFO. If you have already filled in your info, then CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD immediately.

I fell for this the day it started and the moment I filled in my information I thought "wait a minute..." and went looking for some news article to see if I had just made a big mistake. Turns out I had, but in a matter of seconds I changed my password and I didn't have any problems.

Anyway, here is the official news article about it; read it carefully and spread the word:
